?In November 2016, 21-year-old James Barry of Loxahatchee, Florida, broke up with his girlfriend, 22-year-old Melanie Eam, who had become too obsessed with him. She even dropped out of her own school to enroll in the same college as him, and spent most of her time with him. James felt encumbered and wanted to end things.

On the night of November 16, after James broke up with her via a gaming chat app, Melanie drove to his home in a fit of rage. There, she grabbed a knife from the kitchen, used it on him and ended his life

She was subsequently sentenced to 50 years in prison.
